My Father, 1963. Oil on canvas, 30 x 24 inches.
Not for Sale.
This was my first painting demonstration. My father "posed like a rock". I used a palette knife to paint him. The demo lasted one hour and it took place at the National Academy of Design. There was an audience of about one hundred people. I was quite nervous but the audience applauded when I was done. The occasion was the annual exhibition of the Allied Artists of America.
